I found “A Wild Sheep Chase” languishing in a guesthouse in Phnom Penh back in 2002. It looked not horrible (compared to the usual fare found on hostel book shelves) so I grabbed it. The story hooked me from the get-go and I’ve been a huge fan ever since.
Haruki is my friend on MySpace and he commented on my page once. But I don’t count this as “knowing” him. ;)
Beth is always polite and helpful to even the most annoying of people. She will share her sweeties with you. She has a very warm and welcoming home with astonishingly shiny cookware. She has great taste in authors, like Haruki Murakami, JK Rowling, and Marian Keyes.
Cybil will show you her belly at random, innapropriate moments. Cybil blurts things out and has a great laugh. She takes amazing photographs, she procrastinates, and her cheerful curiousity leads to lots of quirky discoveries that she’s happy to share.
Franny and I share an interest in the writings of Haruki Murakami and also in Harry Potter. Although I like Harry Potter for the fanfiction and she likes it for the discussions boards. We work together and sometimes have lovely discussions of liberal politics or Harry Potter. One time I got a book signed by Haruki Murakami and another time Franny got a comment from him on her myspace page. That was very cool.
